In 1994, Professor Chung Chen Sun collaborated with Yunnan University to establish the International Modern Design Art College, introducing a groundbreaking “One University, Two Systems” model for Sino-foreign joint education. He built strong friendships with then-President Wang Rong and faculty members during this period.

In 2004, when President Wang Rong transitioned to Yunnan University of Finance and Economics to promote art education, several faculty members from Yunnan University’s Design Art College joined him to help establish Yunnan University of Finance and Economics’s Design Art College.

In 2007, Professor Chung was appointed Chief Professor and Director of the Institute of Chinese Culture Studies at Yunnan University of Finance and Economics. To support the new college, he personally donated over 100 artworks and more than 1,000 collectibles to the Yunnan Provincial Government, designating Yunnan University of Finance and Economics for their preservation. With funding of over 10 million RMB from the provincial government, the former library was converted into the Chung Chen Sun Art Museum, which opened in 2011. Former Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib Razak sent a congratulatory letter for the occasion, marking Yunnan University of Finance and Economics as the only financial university in China with an art museum named after an internationally renowned artist: the Chung Chen Sun Art Museum.
